LAND&BOUW – Summer Exhibition 2026
From May through August 2026, KETTER&Co presents LAND&BOUW at Oude Gracht 4 in Veenhuizen. Rooted in the unique history of Veenhuizen as one of the Colonies of Benevolence, the project explores how we can once again build and live in balance with the landscape. Central to the exhibition is the question of how local materials and historical knowledge can contribute to a more sustainable future for heritage buildings.

This edition focuses on betengeling, a historic wall-lining technique consisting of timber framing, textiles, and air layers that improved indoor comfort long before modern insulation existed. Through research into wood, natural insulation materials, textiles, and locally sourced agricultural by-products, the exhibition demonstrates how historical building practices can inspire contemporary approaches to sustainability.

LAND&BOUW brings together heritage, design, and ecology, inviting visitors to reconsider ideas of comfort, material use, and our relationship with the natural environment. A story of past and future, built layer by layer from the history and landscape of Veenhuizen.
